Pukka Pies

Social: Concept · Videography · Editing

The idea

Take the pie somewhere it has no business being.

The work

Pukka's TV ads are warm and wholesome, and social is where it gets to be funny.

The Wigan kebab was my idea, and I directed the edit. A woman explains, completely seriously, that in Wigan they put a pie between two slices of bread, and that's the whole joke.

The microwave pies were my idea for a series, putting a Pukka in places a pie doesn't belong, like outside the Bank of England. I edit every one.

Behind the scenes

For the new Vindaloo flavour, the campaign got the rights to the Fat Les song. We went to Pukka Palace and filmed a room full of people singing it, interviewed Paul Merson and John Barnes about it, and made the advert. I was at the recording, edited the whole thing and finished it to spec.

The pie pint holder was my idea too, a fake stadium drinks holder that holds a pie instead of a pint. It was never real, but you'd believe it.

The results

Pukka's social has done 8.2M+ video views since we took it on, and I've made a lot of those videos.
